ZoneTraderPro Support / Chart Setup

ZoneTraderPro Chart Setup & Templates

This page holds every chart template and BloodHound VIX file needed to reconstruct a ZoneTraderPro NinjaTrader workspace — after changing computers, losing a workspace, or reinstalling the platform.

This resource is designed primarily for rebuilding or restoring a workspace. If your current charts are already configured and working correctly, no changes are necessary.

BloodHound is not included on the chart templates. You will need to add the BloodHound indicator yourself where it is specified below. After adding it, remember to re-save the template so you have a customized version for your own use.

Walkthrough

Setup of the ZoneTraderPro Indicators and Charts

This video demonstrates how to set up NinjaTrader and the ZoneTraderPro charts. It is a resource for when you need to move to a new computer or are working through other installation issues.

Additional setup videos covering all of the parameters you need to know are on the ZoneTraderPro video library page.

Step 01

Where to Place the Templates

The templates must be saved in the Documents folder location shown in the screenshot.

You must right click and save as

The BloodHound indicator is not on the templates — add it where specified, then re-save the template.

Main decision chart

ZTP 3.5 ZigZag Delta Chart

The 3.5 ZigZag Delta chart is considered one of the two main decision charts. The chart template has the following indicators applied.

  1. ZigZag ZTP for the zones
  2. ZoneTraderProV2BH for the patterns
  3. ZtpDelta Divergence for volume analysis and divergences
  4. ZtpDD_KP2Ratio for the KP2 to be displayed in panel 3
  5. Order Flow Cumulative Delta
  6. You will need to add BloodHound

The chart in the picture is set at 50 trend delta and 50 trend reversal. The chart must have the Tick Replay parameter checked. A lower setting of 50 shows more detail in the KP2 Ratio and is necessary if there is illiquidity. A setting of 100/100 can be used when there is sufficient liquidity. The smaller the number, the faster you will have a close of a bar. You want a faster close of the bar, because this updates BloodHound and the KP2 Ratio. You will find that the information provided gives a more detailed picture than a chart with a higher setting.

On this chart I placed the BloodHound VixV17, which is the VIX trend template.

Main decision chart

ZTP 3.5 Point ES ZigZag Chart

The 3.5 ZigZag chart is a main decision chart. The chart template has the following indicators applied.

  1. ZigZag ZTP for the zones
  2. ZoneTraderProV2BH for the patterns
  3. ZtpDelta Divergence for volume analysis and divergences
  4. ZtpDD_KP2Ratio for the KP2 to be displayed in the lower panel
  5. You will need to add BloodHound

The chart in the picture is set at 210 ticks. The chart must have the Tick Replay parameter checked.

Second main decision chart

ZTP .35 Point SPY ZigZag Chart

The .35 ZigZag chart is considered the second main decision chart. The chart template has the following indicators applied.

  1. ZigZag ZTP for the zones
  2. ZoneTrader $VIX (ZoneTraderVix9D to be released shortly)
  3. ZtpDelta Divergence for volume analysis and divergences
  4. ZtpDD_KP2Ratio for the KP2 to be displayed in the lower panel
  5. You will need to add BloodHound

The chart in the picture is set at 35 ticks. The chart must have the Tick Replay parameter checked. This chart has the VIX9D indicator on it, which will be released in the very near term. The SPY is used as a proxy for the ES, because it provides more divergence signals.

On this chart I placed the BloodHound VixTrigger, which is the VIX trigger template, because it will give a BloodHound indication faster than the trend.

Before this chart can be created, you must follow the step-by-step instructions to add the necessary instruments. That page is found here.

Overview chart

ZTP 7.5 Point ES ZigZag Chart

The 7.5 ZigZag chart is considered the overview chart. This chart template has the following indicators applied.

  1. ZigZag ZTP for the zones
  2. ZtpDelta Divergence for volume analysis and divergences
  3. ZtpDD_KP2Ratio for the KP2 to be displayed in the lower panel
  4. ZtpCumulativeDelta set to filter trades of 100 or more
  5. ZtpDeltaStrenght set to filter trades of 100 or more
  6. Normally you would not use BloodHound on this chart
  7. Optionally you can purchase a subscription from SpotGamma to display critical levels of support and resistance based on the option positioning

The chart in the picture is set at 7.5 points for the ZigZag. The chart must have the Tick Replay parameter checked. It has the SpotGamma support and resistance levels. This, combined with Delta Strenght, can show when options positions are being opened or closed at critical levels.

There is no reason to place BloodHound here, as it would only put more stress on your computer.

ZTP VIX Chart

ZTP VIX chart showing VIX9D, VIX, COR90D and VVIX data series with BloodHound and Moving Average Ribbons

The ZTP VIX chart is looking at 4 VIX indexes. The VIX9D must be added first, then the VIX data series, then the COR90D data series, and then the VVIX data series. The latest version (9/17/23) omits the VIX1D in favor of COR90D.

Required data-series order

  1. VIX9D
  2. VIX
  3. COR90D
  4. VVIX

They must be added in this order so that the template functions correctly. All of these data series are set to 1 tick.

Do not use Tick Replay

You will need to add the BloodHound indicator. The BloodHound template file, after version 13, has 2 options. The options allow you to decide if we are in a higher or lower VIX environment. In a lower VIX environment, the VIX is not moving as much as in a high VIX environment. The lower VIX template option requires less of a VIX move to change the BloodHound signal.

On this chart I placed the BloodHound VixTrigger, which is the VIX trigger template, because it will give a BloodHound indication faster than the trend. I did this to draw my attention quicker to the VIX. Because 0DTE normally make up around 50% of the total volume traded, VIX9D is on top and is theoretically more sensitive, as these options are opened and closed as day trades but are very sensitive to ES price change, thus requiring additional options dealer hedging.

The purpose of all of these trigger charts is to match the BloodHound zigzags with the ZtpZigZag indicator.

Also added is a default NinjaTrader indicator called the Moving Average Ribbons, and you can see its results. The price is the thick black line. The price line properties can be changed to anything you like in the data series. I also changed the color of the slowest moving average to black and gave it a thickness of 2.

Remember, you still need to put the BloodHound indicator on the charts. Also change the BloodHound signal setting from .8 to .7 if you want a signal when 3 of the 4 signals agree.

These templates were updated 3/14/24. Delete any old versions before downloading.

ZTP Order Flow Chart

The ZTP Order Flow chart is set to a 7 range volumetric bar. The chart must have the Tick Replay parameter checked. The range can be adjusted higher or lower as you desire. The higher the range, the longer you will wait for a valid signal. The smaller the range, the less volume has been analyzed.

This chart template has the following indicators applied.

  1. ZoneTraderProFlow Order Flow
  2. ZtpDelta Strenght with no filter
  3. OrderFlow VWAP

On this chart I placed the Delta Strenght filter at 0 because there has been less liquidity.

The $ADD is an additional chart to measure market metrics. Tick Replay is not needed. It is using the BloodHound trend template.

This chart template has the following indicators applied.

  1. ZoneTraderProV2BH to show tick values only. Zigzag ticks = 1500
  2. Zigzag_ztp set at 20 deviation points
  3. You will need to add BloodHound
  4. ZonTrader$TICK
  5. ZonTrader$VIX
  6. ZonTrader$VIX9D (not released yet)
